Why?

I am a 200 + pound foodie. I LOVE food. I love everything about it. I love cooking it. I love seeing it. I love smelling it. And, I especially love tasting it!

I also love life! I love feeling good. I love playing and playing hard. It is not easy to love life if you aren't in good shape. Unfortunately, my love for food has started to impede on my love for life. My weight makes it hard to run around with my daughter and my blood sugar numbers are starting to reach the high end of 'normal'.

I decided it was time to take some action. I have been learning about the WFPB way of life. (That means: whole food, plant based.)

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka Mormon). A HUGE part of my religion is a section of scripture from the Doctrine and Covenants section 89. It is revelation for a "code of health". As I have studied this particular section of scripture, I have also been reading other books and watching documentaries that align with the Word of Wisdom. After much thought and prayer, my husband and I have decided to dive into this WFPB way of living. Our daughter is even adapting nicely.

While I admit that I miss me some butter and cheese, I can honestly say I am okay without it. The key is learning to love new foods.

SO..... this here blog is going to be full of recipes, tips, photos and thoughts on this "radical" lifestyle change.

I am not an expert, just a girl trying to be healthy in a world of so many choices!

*check THIS blog out. It is a great resource on WFPB diets.
